IM000627.JPG (30173 bytes)I fabricated the push rods for the ailerons today.

IM000631.JPG (43646 bytes)To install the threaded receiver in the smaller smaller push rods that go from the bell crank to the ailerons require setting some AN470-12 rivets.  I had read of some struggles others had while setting these rivets.  I pulled out the C-frame so that I could keep things straight while setting these rivets.

IM000632.JPG (32750 bytes)The 470 die is in the receiver and then just the long set to set the rivets.  Take your time and all will work out ok with this.

IM000634.JPG (25935 bytes)IM000637.JPG (20064 bytes) I made this to insert the washers in hard to reach places.  It's just a scrap piece of .025 with a hole drilled and then the top cut off.

IM000639.JPG (26218 bytes)I took the full scale drawing and made this template to keep the ailerons aligned while setting the length of the push rod from the bell crank to where it attaches to the aileron.  Honestly, this didn't fit the shape of the wing very well.  I posted on the Yahoo news group and received some feedback that included 1) just use a straight edge laid on top of the skins and 2) take a straight edge or string and align the tooling holes in the end from the leading edge to the trailing edge.  I used a combination of all the above and think that I have the ailerons correctly aligned.
