The next time I build a plane, I will ...

... not buy a cheap torque wrench.

... buy the vise grip 3/32 nd dimpling tool at the beginning.

... drill the rudder skin to the ribs/ spar and  dimple the skin before I "crunch" the rudder leading edge.

... order the wings earlier.  emp kit went together faster and easier that I thought it would.  Now I'm waiting on the wings for a couple weeks.

... Make sure the counterbalance arm of the elevators are aligned with the HS skin before riveting.  The gap between the right elevator counterbalance arm and the HS skin is the worst mistake that I believe that I've made.  I know that it is cosmetic but it is killing me when I see it.  I may drill out some rivets ?????  see here

... roughen up the skins on the tanks before dimpling.  I did this on the right tank before dimpling and it was a lot easier.  I used a hard nylon bristled brush in the air die grinder to do most of the work and then finished with a scotch brite pad.

... not install the most inboard rib between the main wing spar and the rear wing spar until just before final installing the wing skin.  This rib was backordered from the original shipment of my kit.  This worked extremely well for me.  Great planning on my part (-:  With this rib not installed, it is much easier to install the 3 nut plates that are used with the most inboard "Z" bracket.
