Panel
Start of the panel stuff
The panel will consist of a Dynon EFIS replacing the gyro instruments. The Dynon will go fit into the normal "six pack" where the artificial horizon usually goes. The CDI (this is will be an IFR machine) is going into the directional gyro hole. The remaining 4 holes of the standard six will be armed with the appropriate instruments: I am installing the standard electrical turn coordinator, VSI, altimeter and airspeed indicator. Really, all instruments that you would be taught to use while flying partial panel IFR. Additional backup is provided by a TruTrak Digitrak autopilot and finally a TruTrak Altrak, a stand alone altitude hold. This should be more than sufficient to be comfortable in IFR.
The avionics will consist of a Garmin 430 GPS/NAV/COM, a Garmin 340 audio panel and a Garmin 327 transponder. I plan to add a handheld nav/com to the flight bag and install a King KX-99 that will allow me to plug a handheld into the mix and use the com antenna. I've been told that this has very little effect on the normal use of the antenna. We'll see.
Engine management information will be provide by a Grand Rapids Technologies EIS 4000. I do have two fuel management gauges from Electronic International. (Just because, that's why (: )
