I had not intended on installing an altitude hold autopilot until the last minute.  There was some great discussion on the rv-list concerning the pitch sensitivity of the rv and the work load that this caused in IFR conditions.  Bottom line I choose the install this as a safety tool. True in the clouds single pilot IFR is always a challenge and if this allows an extra degree of safety, then it is well worth the $1,500 that it cost. 

This really was a painless install.  I made it more difficult than necessary by initially planning to mount the controller right behind the firewall.  I had ran the wiring bundle all the way forward when I realized it would be a lot simpler design by mounting the controller next to the servo and then I only needed 3 or 4 wires ran forward.  So, I decided to redo and re-wire.
